Three Capes Marathon Relay
The Three Capes Marathon Relay follows the Three Capes Scenic Loop on the north Oregon coast, running from Cape Meares past Cape Lookout and finishing at Cape Kiwanda near Pacific City. The route passes through or adjacent to six state parks, two national wildlife refuges, and multiple county parks, with vantage points of Tillamook Bay, Netarts Bay, and the Pacific Ocean.
The full course covers 26.2 miles and is divided into five legs. Leg distances vary and are described as roughly four to seven miles each. Difficulty ratings across the legs range from easy to extremely difficult. The course begins and ends at sea level and includes nearly 2,400 feet of cumulative climbing.
Participants may enter as solo marathoners or as teams of two or five. Team division options include Family, Business, School, and Clydesdale, the latter for all runners or walkers over 200 pounds. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $339 for a five person team, $165 for a two person team, and $95 for a solo marathon entry. The event is produced by an Ultimook non profit that benefits youth running programs in the Pacific Northwest.
