2nd Annual Eldersburg Elementary School PTA Color Run
The Eldersburg Elementary School PTA Color Run is a community athletic event held on the grounds of Eldersburg Elementary School in Maryland. This untimed event focuses on participation and school support rather than competition. Participants run, walk, or skip through a designated course where they are doused with different colored powders at various stations.
The event features a single distance:
- 1 mile
The course consists of grass terrain located entirely on the school property. While strollers are permitted, the organizer notes that the grass and hills may present challenges for pushing them. To manage the flow of participants and ensure everyone passes through the color stations, the race is organized into multiple heats that depart at ten-minute intervals.
Registration includes several amenities such as a race t-shirt, water, snacks, and access to kids' crafts following the run. Children aged three and under can attend for free without registration, though they do not receive an event shirt. Participants are encouraged to wear white clothing to the starting line to better display the colored powder collected during the run.
Proceeds from the event are designated for the Eldersburg Elementary School playground fund. The specific goal of these funds is to establish a playground that is fully handicap accessible. Post-race activities take place at the finish line area, featuring live music and entertainment.
Parking is available in the school's front and back lots, as well as in the neighboring streets, with participants requested to avoid parking on the grass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
