El Grito 5k - Denver
El Grito 5k is a community 3.1 mile run/walk held on September 13, 2026, in celebration of Mexican Independence Day. The event was founded in 1994 and has run for over 30 years as a local tradition that supports students and community connections.
The course is set entirely within the Auraria Campus and consists of three loops that start and finish on the lawn by the Jordan Student Success Building. The event supports the Auraria campus and greater Metro Denver communities by providing scholarships for students involved in cross country and track programs. Hydration drinks and beer will be available for participants; alcohol requires proof of being 21 or older.
