Eight Stations Ultra : 50K trail event in North Yorkshire
The Eight Stations Ultra is a 50K trail event on mixed terrain between Whitby and Pickering. The route follows the Esk Valley railway line and then the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line, passing eight railway stations and running alongside the railway for much of the course. Participants may encounter steam trains along the way.
The course includes approximately 3322 ft of elevation, mainly undulating. Organisers allow 13 hours to complete the route and provide tail runners for support. There are four marshaled checkpoints offering water and snacks such as flapjack, sweets, and vegan sausage rolls, with gluten free alternatives at each checkpoint.
Registration takes place at Whitby Leisure Centre and a coach transfer from Pickering to Whitby is available for an additional fee. Entry fees include a finishers medal, a t shirt, water, and snacks. There are trophies for overall winners and for age categories including FV50, FV60, FV70 and MV50, MV60, MV70. Participants must be over 20 years old. Dogs are not permitted on the course because of the agricultural nature of the route.
Organisers provide a GPX route file and a risk assessment, and first aid and event insurance are available on the day. Entry transfers are possible up to four weeks before the event; refunds are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
