CBTE Eight Stations Ultra
The CBTE Eight Stations Ultra is a trail running event that covers a distance of 50K with approximately 3322 ft of total ascent. The route starts in Whitby and finishes in Pickering, following the Esk Valley Railway line and then the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line. Runners pass eight railway stations along the course and much of the route runs alongside the railway.
The course is partially self navigational. Organisers provide a route map, a step by step route description and a GPX file. The event is fully tracked by Open Tracking. Terrain includes mud, rocks and tree roots, and the organisers note a 13 hour cutoff; this allows for a mix of running and brisk walking. Trophies are awarded to first male, female and non binary finishers and to first male and female in the 50, 60 and 70 age categories. Minimum age to enter is 20 years. Entry fees are listed in GBP with different rates for affiliated and non affiliated entrants. The route description indicates the possibility of spotting steam trains where the course runs beside the railway. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
