Event details

The Eight Stations Ultra is a trail running event on Sunday 12 July 2026. The route is listed as approximately 30 miles with about 3322 ft of total elevation. The event is partially self-navigational; organisers provide a route map, step-by-step description and a GPX file. The course will be fully tracked by Open Tracking for 2026. The minimum age to enter is 20. Entry fees are £65 (affiliate) and £67 (non-affiliate). A coach from the finish to the start is available for an additional £22. Finishers receive a medal and t-shirt; water and snacks are included. Trophies are awarded to overall male, female and non-binary winners and to age-category winners in the 50, 60 and 70 groups.

Route and logistics

The route starts in Whitby and finishes in Pickering, following the Esk Valley Railway line and joining the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line. Runners pass eight railway stations and much of the course runs alongside the railway, so trains may be visible from the route. The surface is trail underfoot and includes mud, rocks and tree roots. There are four marshaled checkpoints with water; two checkpoints also offer basic snacks. The event allows walkers who can complete the course within the 13-hour cutoff. Dogs are not permitted. First aid is available on the day. Entries open 14 July 2025 and close 20 June 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
