Edenton Nut Run

The Edenton Nut Run is held in historic Downtown Edenton as part of the activities surrounding the 51st Annual Peanut Festival. The event features road and trail courses that pass waterfront areas, colonial architecture, Hayes Farm, the Historic Edenton Mill Village, and stretches of active peanut fields in Chowan County.

Distances offered:

  • 15K Nutty Challenge: 10K and 5K run back to back.
  • 10K Nut Run/Walk: combination road and trail course with gravel sections.
  • 5K Nut Run/Walk: road and trail through Downtown Edenton and Hayes Farm.

The 15K Nutty Challenge requires participants to complete the 10K within 1.5 hours and then begin the 5K at its scheduled start to record a combined time.

A free Kids Sack Race for ages 3 to 12 takes place on the Courthouse Green and is described as a classic, bouncy children’s activity.

Packet pickup is available at a local location, 119 W Water St, Edenton, NC, and at the race location on race day.

Awards are given to top overall finishers and age group placings in the 10K and 5K and to top finishers in the 15K Challenge; there is also a prize for the Nuttiest Outfit. Proceeds support Main Street Edenton's Facade Grant program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
