Event Overview

Eddie's Revenge Fell Race takes place on Wednesday, 24th June 2026. It is a fell race over a distance of approximately 6.1 km (3.8 miles) with a total ascent of 323 m (1050 ft). The event is classified under Fell Running Association (FRA) rules.

Course Details

The route is a mixture of moorland trail, forest trail, and rough moorland paths. It uses old mine workings which generally drain well, but there are areas where mud can be found, especially in poor weather. The course is described as tougher than it appears on a map, featuring numerous ascents and descents as it loops through forest and moorland. It ends with a steep, shale-covered descent towards the end of the first lap. The race is run on Brushes Clough Country Park with permission from Oldham Council.

Event Information

  • Pre-entry only, with different fees for FRA members and non-members.
  • Registration and number/chip collection open at 6:30 PM at St Saviours Church, Shaw (OL2 8NB).
  • The start line is 200-300 meters away at Shore Edge Methodist Church on Buckstones Road, Shaw.
  • Minimum age is 16; runners under 18 require a signed parental consent form.
  • Results are based on gun time.
  • Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd male and female, first in age categories, and team awards.

Mandatory Kit & Notes

The race takes place on rough, exposed open moorland and is not a trail or parkland race. While partially marked, navigational experience may be required. Competitors must be prepared to carry full body cover (waterproof cagoule with hood and full-length waterproof bottoms), a hat, gloves, a map of the course, a compass, and a whistle. GPS use is not allowed. A kit spot check may be conducted before the start. Any competitor retiring must report to the nearest marshal and the race organiser at race headquarters.
