Eddie's Revenge Fell Race
Eddie's Revenge is a club organised fell race held on Crompton Moor and Brushes Clough, with registration at St Saviours Church, Buckstones Road, Shaw, Oldham. The route is reported as roughly 5.8 to 6.1 km with about 308 to 323 m of ascent, run over moorland and forest trails.
The course uses moorland trail, forest trail and rough moorland paths. It is generally well drained in places by old mine workings but can be muddy in poor weather. The route contains numerous ascents and descents and includes a steep shale covered descent towards the end of the first lap. The course is mostly runnable yet remains physically demanding over the full distance.
The event is held under Fell Running Association rules and crosses rough exposed open moorland. The course is partially marked and some navigational experience may be required. Competitors are expected to carry appropriate kit if requested by the race organiser; this may include full body cover, a waterproof cagoule with hood, full length waterproof bottoms, hat, gloves, a map of the course, compass and a whistle. Use of GPS is not allowed. Spot kit checks may be undertaken before the race.
Entries are pre entry only, with separate fees for association members and non members. Minimum age is 16 years; under 18s require a signed parental consent form. Numbers and timing chips are issued from the registration area. Toilet facilities are available at registration and parking is provided at Brushes Clough Quarry off Buckstones Road.
