Event overview

The Nine Edges Challenge is a linear, off-road endurance event on Saturday 12 September 2026 in the Peak District. The route starts at Fairholmes (Ladybower) and finishes at the Robin Hood Inn near Birchen Edge. The course is approximately 20 miles (about 32.8 km) with roughly 900 m of ascent. The terrain crosses high moorland and gritstone edges and requires navigation using map and compass; GPS and phone navigation systems are not allowed.

Route features and organisation

Checkpoints are provided on route and are stocked with water, bananas and jelly babies. A bus is provided from the finish back to the start. Participants receive a free drink from the bar at the finish venue. The event is a fundraiser for the Edale Mountain Rescue Team and operates with a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the Fell Running Association (FRA).

Entry and restrictions

Pre-entry is required and opens via SiEntries on 14 April 2026. There is no entry on the day. The published pre-entry fee is £35. The minimum age is 18. Teams and junior races are not provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
