Eastbourne Triathlon and Multiport Festival
The Eastbourne Triathlon and Multiport Festival is a multi-award-winning sporting event held at the Western Lawns on King Edward's Parade. The event features a variety of disciplines including triathlons, duathlons, aquathlons, and open water swims. The courses are set against the backdrop of the Eastbourne pier and the cliffs of Beachy Head.
Participants compete on fully closed roads during the cycling leg, which includes hilly terrain. The running portion takes place on a flat, out and back route along the historic seafront promenade. The swim leg is conducted in the sea.
The festival offers a wide range of distances and categories:
- Standard Triathlon: 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle, 10 km run
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run
- Middle Distance Triathlon: Includes relay and AquaBike options
- Duathlons: Available in Sprint and Standard distances
- Aquathlons: Sprint and Standard distances for various age groups
- Open Water Swims: Distances of 1500 m, 1.9 m, and 3 km
- Children's Events: TriStar categories for ages 8 through 14
The event is British Triathlon affiliated. Participants who are not members of the federation are required to obtain a day race pass. All finishers receive a medal and a t-shirt, and the event provides chip-timed results, a secure transition area, and post-race massages.
