Event Overview
The East Cheshire Junior & Sprint Aquathlon takes place at The King's School in Macclesfield. This swim and run event is held on an 80-acre site and is entirely traffic-free. The competition is open to participants aged 8 and over, with various waves organized by age group.
The swimming portion is held in an indoor 25-meter pool with six lanes. Following the swim, participants move to a transition area located just outside the poolside before starting the run. The run course consists of laps on the school's playing fields, utilizing an anti-clockwise route around a rugby field.
Distance Categories
Participants are grouped based on their age as of December 31st of the competing year:
- TriStart (Age 8): 50m swim (2 lengths) and 600m run (1 lap).
- TriStar 1 (Ages 9-10): 100m swim (4 lengths) and 1.5km run (3 laps).
- TriStar 2 (Ages 11-12): 150m swim (6 lengths) and 2km run (4 laps).
- TriStar 3 (Ages 13-14): 250m swim (10 lengths) and 2.88km run (6 laps).
- Sprint (Ages 15+): 400m swim (16 lengths) and 2.88km run (6 laps).
Facilities and Logistics
The venue provides ample on-site parking via School Lane. Facilities include male and female changing rooms with showers. For spectators, while poolside access is restricted, an upstairs viewing area overlooks the pool, and a designated outdoor area is available near the finish line.
