This event is organized with a focus on environmental sustainability and is designated as a zero-waste event. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water to minimize environmental impact. As a fun run, there is no chip timing and no performance-based prizes are awarded. Instead, a raffle is held following the activity for participants and spectators.
Proceeds from the registration fees support Compañeros, a local organization providing resource navigation, legal services, and education outreach for immigrants. The event precedes the broader Durango Earth Day Celebration, which includes a community parade and a festival at Buckley Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
