The Early Brigg Sprint Triathlon is an multisport event held at the Ancholme Leisure Centre in Brigg. Recognized as a top small event by Triathlon England in 2022 and 2024, it provides a structured environment for participants to test their early-season form and race equipment. The course is designed to be accessible for first-time competitors while offering the potential for fast times.
The event consists of three distinct segments:
- 400m pool swim: Conducted in the Ancholme Leisure Centre pool, followed by a short distance to a secure transition area.
- 20km bike ride: A flat course on road surfaces through the local area.
- 5km run: A traffic-free route in the quiet countryside surrounding Brigg.
The venue features changing facilities, lockers, and baggage storage. The transition area is situated on an all-weather surface near the pool exit. For spectators, the course includes multiple areas to provide support to the athletes. The event is open to participants aged 15 and over.
Registration takes place on-site, where participants collect race numbers and timing chips. Briefings are provided before the start to outline pool etiquette and course navigation. The run course typically includes sections through residential paths and natural areas, though the exact underfoot conditions can vary based on local weather.
