Event overview

The Dukeries 30 / 40 is a one-lap trail event on Saturday 9 May 2026, organised by HOBO Pace and based at Walesby Sports & Social Club, Forest Lane, Walesby, Newark, NG22 9PF. Distances available:

  • 30.8 miles
  • 40.8 miles

Entry fees are listed as £46 for the 30 mile option and £53 for the 40 mile option. The event has a maximum entry of 250 runners and the organiser states entrants must be aged 20 or older. Entries close three weeks before the event or once the field is full. All finishers receive a HOBO Pace medal.

Course and logistics

The route is a clockwise circular loop, mostly on forest trails and footpaths, starting and finishing at Walesby. It passes through Sherwood Forest, Creswell Crags, skirts the Welbeck Estate, crosses Clumber Park and passes the Thoresby Estate; the 40.8 mile route includes The Major Oak. The course is way marked with tape and arrows, marshals at aid stations, and first aid medics present. Cut-off time is 10.5 hours, enforced at the A614 aid station where competitors must stop if there is not sufficient time to complete the remaining 7 miles. Pacers and drop bags are not allowed; crews are allowed but not at aid stations. Canicross is permitted with a maximum of 20 canicross runners. Parking at the hall is limited; the nearest mainline train stations are Retford, Worksop and Newark (each about 20–30 minutes by car). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
