Event

Dukeries 30 / 40 is organised by HOBO Pace and is scheduled for Saturday 9 May 2026. The event is a one-lap trail ultra with two distance options:

  • 30.8 miles
  • 40.8 miles

Entry is limited to 250 runners. Entry fees are listed as £46 for the 30 and £53 for the 40. Online entries close three weeks before the event or once full, and there is no entry on the day. Competitors must be aged 20 or older. The overall cut-off is 10.5 hours; this cut-off is enforced at the A614 aid station and runners may be required to stop there if there is not enough time to complete the remaining 7 miles. Pacers are not allowed. Walkers without intention to meet the cut-off are not permitted; runners may use a run/walk strategy.

Route and logistics

The race starts and finishes at Walesby Sports & Social Club, Forest Lane, Walesby, Newark, Nottinghamshire NG22 9PF. The clockwise loop keeps mostly to forest trails and footpaths through Sherwood Forest, passes lodges, goes through Creswell Crags, skirts the Welbeck Estate, crosses Clumber Park and returns via farmland and the Thoresby area. The 40.8 mile route includes an additional forest loop of about 10 miles and passes The Major Oak.

Aid stations are located at Hazel Gap, Creswell Crags and the A614 (mile points given in final instructions). The event is fully waymarked with marshals and first aid medics. Toilets will be at the headquarters and possibly on route. Drinks at the start area include water and squash; the finish will offer hot soup, tea and coffee. All HOBO Pace events are fully vegan. Parking at the hall is limited; the nearest mainline train stations are Retford, Worksop and Newark, each about 20–30 minutes by car.
