Drone Valley Trail Half Marathon
The Drone Valley Trail Half Marathon is the second edition of a trail race held in the Derbyshire countryside. The route is a 13.1 mile loop that starts and finishes at Drone Valley Brewery in Unstone and runs over a mix of forest paths, fields, bridleways, riverside paths and minor roads. The course includes around 1,700 feet of elevation and several climbs as well as easier runnable sections.
The race is largely self navigated and unsupported. There is one halfway aid station offering light refreshments, and first aid cover is provided at the start and finish, at the halfway station and at points on the course. Runners receive a GPX file and a written route guide; these are tentative and the final versions will be emailed to entrants within two weeks of the event.
Mandatory kit includes a minimum 1 litre water capacity, waterproof jacket, warm layers, emergency blanket, whistle, emergency snacks and a charged mobile phone with the Race Director's number saved. Organiser information notes no parking at the Brewery and parking available in a layby a few hundred metres up the road. Entry fees differ for UK Athletics affiliated and unaffiliated runners, with a £2 discount for UKA affiliated entrants. Minimum age is 18 years and dogs are not permitted. Refunds are given only if the event is cancelled. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
