Downtown Cartersville 5K and 1K Fun Run
The event is the 10th annual Downtown Cartersville 5K with a companion 1K Fun Run. It benefits the Backpack Buddies program and takes place in historic Downtown Cartersville on August 29, 2026. The 5K is a USATF certified course (Certification #GA18034WC) and is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.

The 5K start is located near the intersection of Church Street and Bartow Street and the finish is inside Friendship Plaza off Cherokee Avenue; the start and finish are at separate locations. The 1K Fun Run makes one counterclockwise loop around the courthouse block and finishes at the common finish line in Friendship Plaza. 5K runners and wheelchair athletes must complete a waiver before the race.
Pre-race packet pickup for pre-registered participants is scheduled the day before at Big Peach Running Co., 402 E. Church St., Cartersville. Parking is available in the lot between the Bartow County Courthouse and Sam Jones Methodist Church, and additional parking is noted at Tabernacle Baptist Church near the Booth Museum of Western Art; limited street parking is also available. Awards are presented after the 5K and include overall and masters places, wheelchair awards, and top three in specified age categories for men and women. The event is held rain or shine.
