Event details
The Down By The River races are scheduled for Sunday 8 March 2026 (permit applied for). The programme includes two distances:
- 10 km
- 3 km
Race headquarters is at Cambuslang Rugby and Sports Club, Langlea Rd, Cambuslang, G72 8HG. The race start and finish are on Cambuslang Rd at the junction of Clydesmill Drive.
Course, logistics and prizes
The course runs along the Clyde Walkway towards Glasgow and returns along the same route. The walkway is not closed during the event and is fairly narrow in places; walkers and cyclists may be present. Organisers note the route is generally quiet on a Sunday morning.
Parking is not available near the start/finish. Participants are asked to use parking at the rugby and sports club and allow time to walk or jog from the clubhouse to the start. An alternative parking area is on Clydesmill Drive in the industrial estate.
Published prizes for the 10k include 1st M/F £100, 2nd £60, 3rd £40, age-category first places of £20 for MV/FV40, MV/FV50 and MV/FV60, first junior male/female £20, and a first team prize of three times £20. The 3k prizes are 1st M/F £20, 2nd £15 and 3rd £10. Additional items include a goodie bag, spot prizes and a bonus for beating course records.
