Event Overview
The Donut Dash Ate-teen is the 18th year of this event, which involves a 4-mile run and the consumption of donuts. It is held annually in March in Land Park, Sacramento.
Course and Format
The event starts in Land Park. Participants run, jog, or walk 2 miles to Marie's Donuts. At the midpoint, they choose one of several options: eat 4 donuts (competitive division), eat 3 donuts (noncompetitive), eat 6 donut holes, or eat nothing at all. After the stop, participants return 2 miles to the start/finish area.
Participant Categories
There are multiple registration categories with different donut consumption rules:
- Competitive 4 donuts - EWWS, LLP Glazing Fast Challenge
- I'm eating 3 donuts (non-comp) - Adult
- I'm eating 6 donut holes - Adult
- I'm eating nothing at all - Adult
- Youth categories for ages 17 & under are available for the "6 donut holes" and "nothing at all" options.
Rules and Challenge
The competitive category starts earlier than the non-competitive start. Competitive participants must be at least 16 years old on event day. The EWWS, LLP Glazing Fast Challenge awards a special medal to competitive participants who complete the 4 miles and consume 4 donuts in under 50 minutes.
Charity and Impact
The event benefits the Child Life Programs at Sutter Children's Center and UC Davis Children's Hospital in Sacramento. Since 2009, the Donut Dash 501c3 has donated over $1.8 million to these programs.
Registration Details
Registration includes donuts or donut holes from Marie's Donuts, a t-shirt, and a finisher's award. Pricing follows a tiered schedule with increases at certain dates. Children 12 and under can participate for free but do not receive donut holes, a t-shirt, or a finisher medal unless they register. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
