Donkey Dash : Latham Centers 3rd Annual 5K
Latham Centers presents the third annual Donkey Dash, a family friendly 5K road race scheduled for June 7, 2026 at Hog Island Brewery in Orleans, MA. The event follows previous Donkey Dash races held in 2024 and 2025 that attracted more than 225 participants who ran, walked, and strolled along West Street in Orleans.
The Donkey Dash supports Latham Centers’ therapeutic donkey program, also known as Asinotherapy, which is part of the organization’s vocational and therapeutic programming. Students and program participants regularly care for and interact with six therapy donkeys under staff supervision. The event highlights this work and the ways Latham Centers supports children and adults with complex disabilities, including Prader Willi syndrome.
This edition of the Donkey Dash is described as family friendly and includes a post-race celebration with food and a raffle. Guests of honor from the donkey program will be available for petting and photo opportunities. The event continues a local tradition that previously included community activities such as a donkey wedding held in May 2019 and other public gatherings tied to the therapy program.
