About the race
Dog Tag Run 2.2 Mile is a community event on Saturday, June 12, 2027, at Gardiner County Park in Bay Shore, NY. The event supports Operation VEST, an organization that works with local partners to address veteran suicide. Proceeds from the event go to Operation VEST; proceeds from the dog division go to Paws of War.
The program includes in-person and virtual options, a ruck division with backpack and vest choices, and a dog walk division. Dogs must be on a 6' leash at all times and each dog must be accompanied by a registered human. Pawticipants in the dog division receive a bandana and a dog tag; all finishers receive custom dog tags and registrants receive a t-shirt if registered by the stated deadline.

Ruck participants must meet weight requirements: 10 lb if under 150 lb, 20 lb if over 150 lb, with weigh-in at the event tent. There is an approximate water stop at the 1-mile mark and water available at the finish. Parking at Gardiner County Park is limited; overflow parking is on the south side of Montauk Highway or adjacent side streets with no parking fee. Awards are given for overall and age-group placings in run/walk and for ruck categories; a participation award is provided for the dog walk.
