Dog Tag Run 2.2 Mile Operation VEST 2027
Dog Tag Run is a charity running and walking event held on June 12, 2027 at Gardiner County Park, Manor Lane and Montauk Highway, Bay Shore, NY. The primary distance is a 2.2 mile trail course in Gardiner Park. The event is held rain or shine and includes both in-person and virtual participation options.
The event features separate divisions for runners, walkers, and dog participants. Dogs must be on a 6 foot leash at all times, each dog must be accompanied by a registered human, and only one dog is allowed per registered person. Dog participants receive a chip timed bib, an Operation VEST bandana, and a dog tag. Proceeds from the dog division are designated for Paws of War.
Additional event options include a ruck division with backpack and vest categories; ruck weight requirements are 10 pounds for participants under 150 pounds and 20 pounds for participants over 150 pounds. Registrants receive a t shirt and all finishers receive custom dog tags. Awards are planned for top overall finishers and age group places in run and ruck divisions.
On-site amenities include a water stop at about the one mile mark and water at the finish. Parking at Gardiner County Park is limited and overflow parking is available on the south side of Montauk Highway and nearby streets.
