Dog Tag Run 2.2 Mile - Operation VEST 2027
The Dog Tag Run is a 2.2-mile trail event held on June 12, 2027, at Gardiner County Park in Bay Shore, New York. The event offers in-person and virtual participation and includes options for running, walking, and rucking.
Event formats and special divisions include:
- 2.2 Mile trail run, walk, and ruck (in-person and virtual)
- 2.2 Mile dog division (in-person; virtual dog entries not allowed)
Starts are staggered by category in this order: runners, runners with dogs, walkers, walkers with dogs. Dogs must be on a six-foot leash at all times, one dog per registered person, and dogs are not allowed without a registered human. Dog participants receive a chip-timed bib, an Operation VEST bandana, and a dog tag; proceeds from the dog division support Paws of War.
Ruck participants must meet weight requirements: 10 lb if under 150 lb, 20 lb if over 150 lb, with on-site weigh-in. Water is available at approximately the one-mile mark and at the finish. Registrants receive a t-shirt; a guaranteed t-shirt size requires registration by May 23. All finishers receive custom dog tags. Awards are given for overall and age-group placements and for ruck divisions. Proceeds benefit Operation VEST and partner veteran service organizations focused on reducing veteran suicide.
