Dog Tag Run 2.2 Mile Operation VEST 2027
The Dog Tag Run is a 2.2 mile trail event on June 12, 2027 at Gardiner County Park in Bay Shore, NY. The event includes in-person and virtual options, a ruck division offered as either a backpack or a vest, and a dedicated dog division. The course is described as a trail run and the event is rain or shine.
Starts are staggered in this order: runners, runners with dogs (dogs must be on a 6' leash), walkers, and walkers with dogs. Dog entrants must be accompanied by a registered human, one dog per person. Dog participants receive a chip timed bib, an Operation VEST bandana and a dog tag. Proceeds from the dog division go to Paws of War. Overall event proceeds support Operation VEST and partner veteran service organizations.
Registrants receive a T-shirt and all finishers receive custom dog tags. Guaranteed T-shirt sizes require registration by May 23. Ruck participants must meet weight rules with a weigh in on race day: 10 lb for participants under 150 lb, 20 lb for participants 150 lb or over. A water stop is provided at approximately the 1 mile mark and water is available at the finish.
Parking at Gardiner County Park is limited and free; when the lot is full vehicles will be directed to park on the south side of Montauk Highway on the grass or on adjacent side streets.
