Dog Days of Summer 5k & 1-Mile Run
The Denham Springs High School Cross Country team hosts the sixth-annual Dog Days of Summer 5k and 1-mile run on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Kidz Korner Playground, 979 Government Street, Denham Springs, LA 70726. The course runs along historic River Road and includes substantial shaded sections. All net proceeds beyond administrative costs will be donated to the Denham Springs High School Cross Country program.

The event is officially timed and managed by Threshold Timing. Participants who register by Saturday, July 18 will receive a t-shirt. All 5k finishers and all 1-mile finishers age 14 and under will receive a custom medal. A maximum of 300 spots are available.
Packet pickup is available at Denham Springs High School, 1000 N. Range Ave, on Friday, July 31 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm; race day packet pickup will be available at the race site beginning at 6:00 am. After the race there will be drinks and food in the pavilion near the finish line while supplies last.
Registration fee tiers are listed by date in the event details. Age-group categories and awards are defined for both distances. Overall, masters, and grand masters champions receive gift cards from Varsity Sports; 5k age-group winners receive a custom singlet from Varsity Sports.
