16th DOCF Teal Ribbon 5K Run-Walk to Fight Ovarian Cancer
The DOCF Teal Ribbon 5K is an annual event held in Rockford Park, Wilmington. Organized by the Delaware Ovarian Cancer Foundation (DOCF), the race serves to raise funds for ovarian cancer awareness and supports the DOCF Research Initiative at the H.F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. The event offers multiple ways to participate in both competitive and non-competitive formats.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run-Walk
- Competitive Walking 5K
- Virtual 5K
The Competitive Walking 5K is strictly for athletes who intend to walk the entire distance; running or jogging is not permitted in this specific category. The Virtual 5K option allows participants to record their activity at any location, such as local parks, trails, or on a treadmill, between the registration date and September 30th using a fitness tracking app or smartwatch.
The event provides tee shirts to all pre-registered participants, while race-day registrants receive them while supplies last. Post-race refreshments are also provided. The course is chip-timed using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. Awards are presented to top overall male and female finishers, masters, and the top three in age groups ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. Special awards are also designated for ovarian cancer survivors, the largest team, and the top fundraiser. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the course due to insurance liability.
