Ditmars Wine Run 5k
The Ditmars Wine Run is a chip timed 5k run and walk held at Ditmars Orchard & Vineyard in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Registration includes a soft ring spun cotton T-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, a race bib, results posted online, and a pour of wine for eligible participants.
The course starts and finishes at the winery and is run over two laps. It is a cross country style course with some areas of uneven footing. Walking is allowed. Strollers are permitted but not recommended because of the ground conditions; children in strollers may participate for free and do not need to register. Dogs are not allowed on the property due to USDA restrictions.
Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each ten year category, from 19 and under up to 80 and over. Awards are custom age group prizes and are available the day of the event; winners should pick up awards at the registration table. Competitive runners should start with the first group to be eligible for awards.
The event names the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Division as its local charity partner. Packet pick-up is available on race day morning only, beginning one hour before the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
