Dirty Sock 10K Run/Walk
The Dirty Sock 10K Run/Walk is a USATF Long Island Track and Field Cross Country Series event held in Babylon Village, New York. The event takes place in the village trails near 169 Park Ave, Babylon, NY 11702.
The 10K course follows Babylon Village trails past Southard's Pond, moves north toward Belmont State Park, wraps around Belmont Lake, and returns through wooded trails to the finish. The course is USATF certified and sanctioned, mostly flat and mostly wooded with only 0.2 mile paved. Water stops and split timing are provided. The surface includes uneven terrain and occasional road apples.
Proceeds support local food pantries and soup kitchens through the Babylon Rotary Foundation, a 501c3 organization.
Race amenities for participants with racing bib entry include complimentary beer and snacks, guaranteed socks for the first 500 registrants, and post race refreshments. Overall awards for first, second, and third place male and female finishers are Runners Edge gift cards of $75, $50, and $25 respectively. The Joe Farina Award honors the first male and female Babylon Village resident finisher. Top three male and female finishers are recognized in multiple age groups and age group winners receive a free class at both Equity Reformer Studio and Babylon CrossFit with a combined value of $55.
