The Dirty Sock 10K Run/Walk takes place on August 9, 2026 in Babylon Village near the grade school and trails at 169 Park Ave, Babylon, NY. The event is a USATF Long Island Track and Field Cross Country Series race and is USATF certified and sanctioned.
The course follows village trails past Southard’s Pond, continues north toward Belmont State Park, wraps around Belmont Lake, and returns through wooded trails to the finish. It is described as mostly flat with water stops along the route and only 2/10 mile paved. Splits are provided and the course runs primarily on trail terrain.
Participant amenities include complimentary beer and snacks for those with a racing bib, post-race refreshments, and guaranteed socks for the first 500 runners. Registration options have included a personalized bib, hat, and socks; registrants who sign up three weeks before race day are listed on their race bib. Live online, email, and text results are provided, plus free video and same-day finish line photos.
Awards recognize top overall finishers and age group placings, including a Joe Farina Award for the first Babylon Village resident finisher. Each age group winner receives a free class at both Equity Reformer Studio and Babylon CrossFit. Proceeds benefit the Babylon Rotary Foundation to support local food pantries and soup kitchens.
