About the race
Beat the Buzzer is a backyard ultra style trail event held at Stake Lake near Kamloops, BC on June 12, 2027. Participants run repeated loop laps of approximately 6–6.5 km on trail terrain that includes single track, double track, hills, rocky and sandy sections. The event runs as a repeated-hour format: runners start each new lap on the hour and must complete the loop in under an hour to begin the next lap.
Entries are available for solo runners and teams of two. Teams are limited to 24 hours of combined running; solo runners remain eligible for the cash prize of $200 awarded to the last solo runner remaining. Custom belt buckles are awarded to solo runners who reach 100 km and to teams that reach 24 hours. Sponsored lap prizes and themed challenges are offered during daytime laps and additional prizes or surprises may occur as the field narrows.
The event provides a well marked course, first aid coverage, custom race swag, lap prizes and a light food station at the start/finish area. Competitors are responsible for their own water and food for long efforts and should plan personal pit setups in the ribboned staging area. Pacers, videographers following on course and drones are not permitted. Participants must remove all garbage and leave their staging areas clean.
