Beat the Buzzer - Dirty Feet Trail Series
This is a backyard ultra format on a loop of approximately 6.4 km. A new lap starts every hour on the hour. To continue, a runner or team must complete their lap in under one hour to be on the start line for the next hour. The race continues until only one solo runner is able to complete an additional lap. The last runner standing wins a $200 cash prize. Teams are capped at a maximum duration of 24 hours.
The event takes place at Stake Lake, on the Overlander Nordic ski trails. The trail course may include single track, double track, hills, and rocky or sandy terrain.
Participants can register as solo runners or as two-person teams. There are two entry categories: "under 6 hours" (for those planning to run less than 30 km) and "over 6 hours". Special belt buckles are awarded to solo runners who reach 100 km and teams that reach 24 hours. A start/finish area allows for setting up a personal tent or pit area. Runners are responsible for bringing their own water and food, although a light aid station is provided.
During daytime laps, sponsored challenges may be offered. The event also functions as a fundraiser for the Kamloops Food Bank. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
