Dirt Cheap Stage Race - Overview
The Dirt Cheap Stage Race is a three-day trail running series held at Mendon Ponds Park in Mendon, NY. The event comprises three separate stages run on consecutive days. Organizers may set a participant cap at any time. Timing is provided for each stage and post-race food is offered after every stage. The first 200 registrants receive a custom mug. A hoodie is awarded to runners who finish all three stages; hoodie sizing is guaranteed only for those who register by the organizer's stated deadline. Series awards include overall male and female winners and top finishers in 10-year age groups.
Courses and logistics
Distances:
- 3 miles - Pond Road time trial on trail terrain
- 5.5 miles - Devil's Bathtub trail run with a stair-climb finish
- 11 miles - The Epic Stage using much of Mendon Ponds Park trail system
Stage formats: the Pond Road stage is a time trial with individual starts; the Devil's Bathtub stage uses a mass start; the Epic Stage begins at Stewart Lodge and follows park trails. Headlamps are required for the Pond Road stage if running in the dark. Parking is restricted to designated lots on each day (Horse Trailer Parking Lot; Lookout, Algonkian, Devil's Bathtub shelters; and the Beach Lot). Pre-race packet pickup is available at Fleet Feet at The Armory, 155 Culver Rd., Rochester; limited onsite packet pickup is also provided on race days.
