Event Format
The Fleet Feet Dirt Cheap Stage Race is a three-day trail running stage race. Participants can choose to run one, two, or all three stages.
Stages and Distances
The race consists of three distinct trail runs over consecutive days:
- Stage 1: A 3-mile trail run on Pond Road. Headlamps are required if racing in the dark, and each athlete starts individually.
- Stage 2: A 5.5-mile trail run starting at Devil's Bathtub, featuring a mass start and an infamous stair climb finish.
- Stage 3: An 11-mile trail run that takes in much of Mendon Ponds Park and its trail system, starting at Stewart Lodge.
For Stage 3, an early start at 7:00 AM is available and recommended for runners based on results from Stage 1 and at the race directors' discretion. The finish lines for Stage 2 and Stage 3 close at specific times.
Location and Parking
All stages are held in Mendon Ponds Park. Parking is only permitted in designated lots on each specific day; roadside parking is not allowed. Different lots are used for each stage's start area.
Registration and Awards
A custom mug is given to the first 200 registrants. A hoodie is awarded to all finishers of the entire three-stage series. Hoodie sizing is guaranteed only if registered by a specific date. Series awards are given for overall male and female finishers and top finishers in 10-year age groups.
Logistics
Packet pickup is strongly advised before race day at a designated Fleet Feet location. Day-of packet pickup is available but described as extremely ill-advised. Post-race food is provided after each stage. The event organizers note that dates, times, or the event format may change or be canceled due to circumstances beyond their control, with no refunds, transfers, or deferrals unless otherwise stated. A participant cap may be implemented. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
