Event overview
The DINO Gravel Triathlon takes place on August 1, 2026 at Griffin Bike Park, 10700 Bono Rd, Terre Haute, IN 47802. The event includes multiple entry options: triathlon, triathlon relay, duathlon, duathlon relay, kayak triathlon, kayak triathlon relay, and a separate 10K trail run. Registration opens January 1, 2026; day-of entry is available for a higher fee. Standard entry fees listed are $80 for solo events and $60 per person for relays, with the 10K trail run priced at $30. A USA Triathlon one-day membership is required and may be purchased during registration for $14. Kayak rental is offered for $20. Camping is available at Fowler Park across the road from the venue.
Race format, course and rules
Distances for the main event options are:
- Triathlon: 500 m lake swim; 12 mile gravel bike; 5 km trail run
- Duathlon: 5 km run; 12 mile gravel bike; 5 km run
- Kayak triathlon: 1 km paddle; 12 mile gravel bike; 5 km trail run
The gravel bike leg is described as relatively flat with very gentle hills. The trail run is described as moderate with mostly stable surface and some short ups and downs. Most of the route is wide enough for passing. Allowed bicycles include mountain and cyclo-cross types; motorized assistance is prohibited. Bikes must have two hand-operated brakes and riders must wear a certified, fastened helmet. Closed shoes are required and headphones/earbuds are not allowed. Age-group categories span from 15-19 up to 80+. The refund policy disallows refunds within three months of the event, applies a 20% service charge to refunds, permits transfer of entry for a $20 fee prior to registration close, and provides special deferral or refund options for pregnancy and postpartum situations.
