Dick Hudson’s
The event on Thursday 7 May 2026 is a club-organised moorland race of approximately 7 mile with about 1100 ft of ascent. The course starts at the Barrier car park by the track to White Wells in Ilkley and requires runners to reach and touch the gate by Dick Hudsons Pub on the opposite side of the moor, then return to the finish at the Barrier.
Competitors may choose any route to the gate. Typical options include following the main paved path and rocky steps, or climbing directly up the bracken-covered hillside. Once on the moor, one obvious line is to use the Dales Way Link Path past the Twelve Apostles stone circle at the summit, then descend to the gate and return across the top. The map supplied by the organisers shows a suggested route but runners are free to use multiple existing paths, especially at the start and finish.
Entry is restricted to over 18s and the entry fee is £5. Course records include a men’s time of 42:19 recorded in 2022 and a women’s time of 49:15 recorded in 2021. Results are recorded for many past years, with editions listed from 2010 through 2025. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
