Connemara International Marathon

The Connemara International Marathon takes place in the scenic regions of Connemara, Galway, and features several long-distance running events. Participants can choose between three different distances:

  • Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course starting in Leenane and finishing at Maam Cross, including two hills.
  • Full Marathon: This race begins at Lough Inagh, follows the lake, and joins the half marathon route to finish in Maam Cross.
  • Ultra Marathon: A 39.3-mile course that covers a wide variety of local terrain and scenery.

The event organization includes a postal delivery service for all race numbers, which are sent to participants worldwide before the event. To assist with logistics, all runners are required to fill out a form to confirm their place and reserve a seat on the event buses.

Spectator transportation is available via buses that depart from Galway, Oughterard, and Clifden. These buses transport viewers to the finish area at Maam Cross. Advanced ticket purchase is required for these spectator services. The course utilizes water stations and includes baggage transfer services for participants. Due to the coastal location, weather conditions are variable and can range from sunshine to cold temperatures. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
