Connemara International Marathon
The Connemara International Marathon takes place in County Galway, Ireland, offering participants the opportunity to run through the scenic landscapes of the West of Ireland. The event features multiple road race distances that navigate various points between Leenane, Lough Inagh, and Maam Cross.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 21.1 km (Half Marathon)
- 42.2 km (Full Marathon)
- 63.3 km (Ultra Marathon)
The 21.1 km course begins in Leenane and concludes 13.1 miles away at Maam Cross. This route includes two significant hills. The 42.2 km distance starts at Lough Inagh, featuring a section by the lake before joining the second half of the course and finishing at the same location in Maam Cross. For those seeking a longer distance, the 63.3 km ultra marathon follows a route that covers 39.3 miles of the local Connemara terrain.
The event provides specific logistical support for participants, including a baggage transfer service and a bus schedule to transport runners to the various start lines. All race numbers are distributed via post to the address provided during registration. Water stations are positioned along the courses, and timing services are provided for all three distances. Spectator buses are also available from Galway, Oughterard, and Clifden, transporting visitors to the finish area at Maam Cross. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
