Connemara International Marathon 19 April 2026

The Connemara International Marathon event day includes three race distances that use different start locations in County Galway and finish in Maam Cross for the half and full marathons. The half marathon begins in Leenane and covers 13.1 miles to Maam Cross, featuring two significant climbs along the route.

The full marathon starts at Lough Inagh, follows the half marathon course for part of its route, and finishes in Maam Cross. The race begins by the lake and includes a notably hilly second half. The ultra marathon uses the course introduced in 2023 and measures 39.3 miles.

Practical arrangements include worldwide posting of race numbers to participants and a confirmation form that all entrants must complete to reserve a bus seat to the starts. Spectator buses run from Galway, Oughterard and Clifden to the finish area at Maam Cross, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Weather in Connemara is variable; past editions have seen both warm sunny conditions and bitterly cold weather. The event website contains detailed information on course profiles, water stations, baggage transfer, spectator options and other race logistics.
