Día de los Muertos 5K Run/Walk in Highland
Adelante, Inc. presents a community Día de los Muertos event on November 1, 2026, at Wicker Memorial Park in Highland, Indiana. The event combines a culturally focused celebration with running and walking activities that support scholarships and community programs.
Distances offered:
- 5K timed run
- 5K remembrance walk
- 1K Alebrijito Dash for youth ages 4–12
Event activities include a Zumba warm-up, a live DJ, Aztec ceremonial dancers, and a Día de los Muertos costume contest. The event is family friendly and pet friendly; dogs must remain on leash. The timed 5K is professionally timed.
Registration fees differ for early and late registration. Early fees through October 16 are $35 for the 5K, $25 for the remembrance walk, and $10 for the Alebrijito Dash. Late registration fees beginning October 17 are $40 for the 5K, $30 for the walk, and $15 for the youth dash. Commemorative shirts are guaranteed for participants registered by October 16, with a limited number available for purchase on race day.
Awards will be presented to overall male and female winners, overall masters male and female winners, and 1st through 3rd place in each age division. Age divisions include 0–10, 11–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
