Día de los Muertos 5K Run & Walk : Highland, IN
Adelante, Inc. organizes the 3rd Annual Día de los Muertos 5K Run & Walk on November 1, 2026, at Wicker Memorial Park in Highland, Indiana. The event blends a community race atmosphere with cultural remembrance and local scholarship fundraising. The 5K run is professionally timed.
Distances offered:
- 5K Run with the Spirits (professionally timed)
- 5K Remembrance Walk (distance optional)
- 1K Alebrijito Dash for youth ages 4 to 12
Race day programming includes a Zumba warm up, live DJ and music, Aztec ceremonial dancers, and a Día de los Muertos costume contest with prizes for the top three costumes and makeup designs. The event is described as family friendly and pet friendly; dogs must remain on leash.
Registration features early and late tiers with different fees for each event category. Commemorative shirts are guaranteed for timed 5K participants who register by an announced deadline; walkers and youth dash participants have an earlier guarantee deadline. Awards will be presented to overall and masters winners and to the top three finishers in each age division, which start at 0–10 and extend to 70 and above.
