Día de los Muertos 5K : Highland
Adelante, Inc. presents the 3rd Annual Día de los Muertos 5K Walk & Run, a timed 5K event held at Wicker Memorial Park in Highland, Indiana on November 1, 2026. The event combines a community road race with cultural elements that honor the Día de los Muertos tradition.
The race program includes a Zumba warm-up, a live DJ, and Aztec ceremonial dancers to open the event. A Día de los Muertos costume and makeup contest will award prizes to the top three entries. Pets on leash are permitted and may participate in the event atmosphere.
Registration opens May 1 and closes October 13, 2026. Early registration through October 11 is priced at youth (12 and under) $10 and adults $25. Late registration beginning October 12 is priced at youth $15 and adults $35. T-shirts are guaranteed for participants registered by October 12; limited extra shirts will be available for purchase on race day for $20.
Awards include overall top male and female, masters male and female, and first through third places in each age division. Age divisions are 0–10, 11–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 plus. Proceeds from the event support scholarships for local Northwest Indiana college students.
