2026 DFW HBCU Alumni 5K
The DFW HBCU Alumni 5K takes place at The Epic, Epic Place in Grand Prairie, Texas on September 12, 2026. The event carries the theme Rooted in Legacy, Running Toward Tomorrow and is hosted by The Robinson House Foundation with partners The HBCU Project and the Dallas Metroplex Council of Black Alumni Associations. Proceeds support the DFW HBCU Alumni Heritage Scholarship; the fund has awarded a total of $50,000 to 100 students since 2019.
Event formats include a 5K run or walk and a 1K fun run or walk. The 1K route loops around two man-made lakes and passes the Hilton Garden Inn and the Grand Prairie Police Department, starting and finishing at the same location. The 5K begins with the 1K loop, continues behind the Grand Lawn with three gradual inclines, reaches a midway water station and turnaround, then returns by repeating the lake loop. The course is well marked and features a mix of flat sections and mild inclines.
The event includes a DJ, spirited competition, a vendor marketplace with health and wellness products, fitness resources, and HBCU and Divine Nine merchandise, and an Alumni Connection Zone where local alumni associations set up tents. Vendor space is on the Grand Lawn; vendors must provide their own tents, tables, chairs, and power sources and should plan for transport from parking to the lawn. Registration categories listed are Adult ages 16 and up, Child ages 6 to 15, and Virtual participation. Registrations are non refundable and non transferable.
