DeWitt Crossroads Adult Triathlon (2027)
The DeWitt Crossroads Adult Triathlon is scheduled for July 17, 2027 in DeWitt, Iowa and is managed by DeWitt Parks & Recreation. The event traces back to 2003 and, after several years without an event, will mark its 23rd year in 2027 and the 11th year under DeWitt Parks & Recreation.
The race format is a standard swim-bike-run triathlon with the swim held in Lake Killdeer. The swim is a 500 yard out-and-back triangle course with boats and safety personnel on and around the lake. Wetsuit policy is temperature based: wetsuits are permitted up to and including 78°F; between 78°F and 84°F they are allowed but render the wearer ineligible for prizes; wetsuits are prohibited above 84°F.
The bike leg covers approximately 15 miles, traveling west on Old Highway 30 past Central DeWitt High School, north on Humeston Road/290th Avenue for about 4 miles before returning to the second transition. Bikes must be walked in the transition area. Helmets must meet US CPSC standards and be worn any time the athlete is on the bike, with violation resulting in disqualification. Drafting and blocking rules apply with variable time penalties for infractions.
The run is a 5 kilometer out-and-back that departs from and returns to Central DeWitt High School; bibs must be worn on the front. Water stations are positioned near Mile 1, Mile 2, the finish, and the post-race area.
Entry options include individual and team registration. Teams may be composed of two or three members; every team member must be registered. Late entries may be accepted if space permits; the event is limited to 200 athletes for 2027. Ages are determined as of December 31, 2027.
Awards are presented by age group, in Clydesdale and Athena divisions, to overall top finishers, and to first place teams in all-male, all-female, and co-ed categories. Timing and scoring are provided by a professional timing service. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
