The DeWitt Crossroads Triathlon is an annual multisport event held in DeWitt, Iowa. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, with the swim start at Killdeer Recreation Area and the finish at Central DeWitt High School. The event has been held since 2003; no races occurred in 2015, 2020, and 2025. DeWitt Parks & Recreation has managed the race since 2016.
Distances for the event are:
- 500 yard swim in Lake Killdeer
- 15 mile bike course
- 3.1 mile run (5k)
The swim is an out and back triangle course in Lake Killdeer with a time trial start and safety boats on the water. Wetsuit use follows temperature rules: allowed up to 78 degrees Fahrenheit, optional but ineligible for awards between 78 and 84 degrees, and prohibited above 84 degrees. The bike course follows Old Highway 30 and Humeston Road/290th Avenue and requires walking the bike in the transition area. Helmets approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission must be worn at all times while on the bike. Drafting rules apply and may incur time penalties.
The run course is hilly, leaves and returns to Central DeWitt High School, and requires the bib to be worn on the front. Aid stations provide water at mile 1, mile 2, the finish, and the post race area. Overall cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers. Age groups and division awards are also given, and team awards are presented for first place categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
