About the race
The Dewey Decimal Dash is the 10th annual community 5K run and 1 Mile run/walk held to support the Haverford Township Free Library. The event is presented as a family friendly activity for all ages and contributes to library fundraising and programming.
The event date is Saturday, November 7, 2026. The start location is in front of the Haverford Township Free Library at 1601 Darby Road, Havertown, PA 19083.
Distances
- 5K Run/Walk: Mill Road to Karakung Drive to Manoa Road and back to the Library
- 1 Mile Run/Walk: Mill Road to Earlington and back to the Library
The event has a range of age categories from children through seniors and includes awards for age groups as well as team awards for largest team and fastest team. For its 10th anniversary the event features a costume contest with prizes for best costume, best team costume, and most creative team name.
Since 2017 the event has raised over $125,000 to support the library. The library records about 180,000 patron visits each year and hosts nearly 2,000 programs annually, and it holds a gold level recognition from the Pennsylvania Library Association for its services and collections.
