Devilbend Trail Run
The Devilbend Trail Run is held annually in August at the Devilbend Natural Features Reserve in Tuerong on the Mornington Peninsula. The event uses trails and tracks that surround the reservoir and natural reserve, offering runs that pass through bushland and reserve areas.
Distances offered include:
- 4 km
- 7 km
- 12.4 km
- 21.1 km
- Magic Mile for children under 13 (a parent may run alongside a child for free)
Course surfaces include grass, gravel, stones, mud and clay. The 21.1 km course includes a 1.5 km gravel road section. The routes move between natural trail surfaces and short gravel road segments and are described with varied, changing footing.
The event has a long history: it began as a 30 km road race, later became a two-loop half marathon along Derril Road, and subsequently transitioned into a trail run. The event relies on volunteers and support from local businesses and partners.
Funds raised by the event support initiatives of the not-for-profit Mornington Peninsula Athletic Club, including purchasing equipment for the track at Mornington and supporting junior athletes from the region. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
