Cowes Classic : Bass Coast Series
The Cowes Classic is a combined swim and run event held on the Cowes foreshore. The course comprises a tide-assisted 500 m swim around the pier followed by a 4 km run. After exiting the water competitors put on shoes in a transition zone and run up Thompson Ave, turn left onto Chapel St toward Silverleaves, then loop back along the foreshore to finish in front of the North Pier Hotel.
Registration is online only and walk-in entries are not accepted. The minimum competitor age is 15 years on the day of the event. Fee levels include Early Bird and Standard prices for Individuals (18 plus and Juniors U/18) and Relay Teams; specific amounts are listed for each category. Competitors receive a Race Pack that includes a Cowes Classic T-shirt, a coloured swim cap that determines start wave, and a timing transponder issued as a bracelet. The race centre closes 30 minutes before the race and competitors must hand over their transition bag at registration.
Results and presentations take place at the North Pier Hotel after the race. Race rules note that no extraneous aids are allowed, wetsuits may be worn, course marshalls and officials have authority to disqualify or remove competitors, and lost transponders incur a $100 replacement fee. Entrant categories cover junior and senior age groups, masters divisions, relay team types, and a local resident classification for Bass Coast Shire.
