Desert RATS Trail Running Festival by UTMB
Desert RATS Trail Running Festival is a multi-day trail running event in Fruita, Colorado. The event runs across three days of racing on trails in the high desert, with courses that pass red slickrock cliff buttes, mesas, and sections overlooking the Colorado River. Routes include flowy singletrack and climbs onto mesa terrain.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 100K - 100 km, 2050 m+ elevation
- 50K - 48 km, 1050 m+ elevation
- 21K - 21 km, 700 m+ elevation
- 10K - 9 km, 200 m+ elevation
The 100K serves as a qualifier for the Western States Endurance Run for runners who finish in 20 hours or less. Finishers of the 100K, 50K, and 21K earn a UTMB Index and Running Stones that can be applied to the UTMB World Series Finals lottery.
Event programming includes a basecamp festival party and a free kids race. The UTMB Community Bibs program is available; half of the Community Bib registration cost is directed to a local charity chosen by the race team, and proceeds support trail stewardship and community initiatives.
