Des Moines Spring 4-Miler
The Des Moines Spring 4-Miler is the second edition of a four mile road race held in Des Moines on March 1, 2026. The event is organized by Wieland Racing, the organizer of The Blazing 5k and Mile, and is intended to serve as an early-season benchmark.
The course is set in Waterworks Park, starting near the Bill Riley Trail Bridge. It follows both the larger and the smaller park loops in a counterclockwise direction before returning along the main stretch to the start. The course is described as flat and fast and is pending certification.
During registration participants are asked to join a team; registrants may choose "No Team" or add a team if theirs is not listed. The race offers prize money for competitive finishers: the top six men and the top six women each receive $100, for a total purse of $1,200.
Logistics notes provided by the organizer include eastbound-only parking inside the park with a requirement to keep two wheels on the road, several gravel lots on the north side of the road, and additional parking at Lauridsen Amphitheater about a mile from the start. A bag drop is available at the start line using a 12x18 inch plastic drawstring bag, which must be retrieved post-race with the bib. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
