Derwent Reservoir Runs
Derwent Reservoir Runs return for their ninth year with a date change to May to allow for more on site car parking. The event takes place at Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Consett, DH8 9TT. The reservoir is owned by Northumbrian Water and sits on the border of County Durham and Northumberland.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km
- 5 mile
- 10 mile
The routes use mixed terrain and firm trails that showcase the reservoir area. The 10 mile route completes a full lap of the reservoir on closed roads and firm trails. The 5 km and 5 mile routes are on firm trails. Due to road closures, the 10 mile event has a 2.5 hour cut off.
Cani-cross is permitted on the 5 km and 5 mile routes with one controlled dog per runner; the 10 mile is not suitable because of extended road sections. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North.
All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. An event T-shirt can be purchased for £12.50 at registration. There is an on site parking charge and all vehicles must purchase a parking pass for £3; parking payment arrangements will be confirmed nearer the event.
Entry prices range from £22.00 to £29.00 depending on distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
