Event Overview
The Dempsey Dash occurs annually on the campus of Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. This athletic event serves as a memorial for a long-time university executive and supports the Wayne W. Dempsey Endowed Scholarship Fund. Participants gather at the Brenau University Amphitheater on Prior Street to take part in the scheduled activities.
Distances and Course
The event features two primary distances for participants to choose from:

- 1K Fun Run
The 5K course is a certified race with the certification number GA24002DJ. In addition to the physical races held on campus, a virtual option is available for those who wish to support the scholarship fund without being present on-site.
Participant Information
Individuals who complete their registration by the pre-registration deadline of February 20 are provided with an official t-shirt. For those who register after this date or on the day of the race, shirts are distributed while supplies last. Participant bags and shirts are available for collection at the registration and check-in area on the day of the event.
The event honors a university figure known for wearing bow ties. Separate registration categories exist for Brenau University students, employees, and members of the community, as well as specific categories for children under 10 years old.
