Dempsey Dash 5K and 1K Fun Run
The Dempsey Dash is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Brenau University Amphitheater in Gainesville, GA. The event is presented as a 5K and a 1K Fun Run held on a flat course that uses two loops around the Brenau University campus. The 5K is a certified race with certification number GA24002DJ.
The event is held in memory of the university’s long‑time executive vice president and CFO and benefits the Wayne W. Dempsey Endowed Scholarship Fund, which was first funded in 2014 by an anonymous donor. Official event T-shirts are provided to all participants who pre-register by February 20; other registered participants through race day receive shirts while supplies last. Participant bags and shirts are available for pick up on Saturday at registration/check‑in.
Race services include RaceJoy phone tracking with GPS progress alerts, live tracking, and send‑a‑cheer features for remote spectators. Awards are presented for 5K overall male and female and top male and female in age group categories that span from 9 and under through 70 and over.
