Delaware Turkey Trot
The Delaware Turkey Trot is a family friendly run and walk held on Thanksgiving morning in downtown Delaware, Ohio. The event includes in-person and virtual participation options and a dedicated kids race for ages 8 and under.
The course options include:
- 5K
- 1.5 mile
- Little Gobbler kids run for ages 8 and under
- Virtual option
The route begins and ends on East Winter Street near the library and passes local landmarks such as The Strand Theatre, 1808 and Mi Cerrito. The course continues up historic Sandusky Street, proceeds down Wilmer, includes an out-and-back on Henry Street, and crosses a pedestrian bridge above Route 23 before returning to East Winter Street.
Portions of the course are coned down the middle to maintain traffic patterns. Sandusky Street from William to Wilmer will have the parking lane and one travel lane open with runners using the far left lane. Winter Street from Lake Street to Estelle Street will be coned down the middle with runners on the right lane.
Packet pickup is spaced over three days the week of the race at New Beginnings Church, 2163 ST RT 37 East, Delaware, OH 43015. Participants receive a long sleeve t-shirt, a finisher medal, and an individual dessert. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers. The event donates 100% of its proceeds to Autism Society Central OH (ASCO) and has donated nearly $232,000 to date. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
