Del Dios Trail Race
Del Dios Trail Race is the 13th annual trail running event held at Lake Hodges in Escondido, California. The event takes place in January 2027 and uses trails and service roads around the lake. Courses run on dirt service roads or single track trails with elevation gains reported between 100 feet and 1000 feet depending on the distance.
Multiple race options are offered, including trail distances and a short kids dash. A new challenge for 2027 requires completing three specific distances within a time limit; the rules specify start and finish order for that challenge and a finishing award.
Distances:
- 50K
- Half Marathon (13.0 miles)
- 10K (6.1 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Kids Dash
- Hercules DemiGod Challenge require completing the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K within five hours starting with the half and finishing with the 5K
The event is designated as a championship qualifier. Course routes and distance options are available for participants. The Hercules DemiGod Challenge is noted as inspired by an earlier Moose Head Challenge in Colorado. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
