2026 DeKalb Aruna Run
The DeKalb Aruna Run is a community-focused athletic event hosted at Christ Community Church in DeKalb, Illinois. The race serves as a fundraiser for the Aruna Project, an international human rights non-profit organization. All registration fees are directed toward supporting survivors of human trafficking through freedom, employment, and empowerment initiatives.
The event offers several participation options to accommodate different ages and preferences:
- 5K
- 1-Mile
- 1-Mile Kid's Run/Walk (for ages 12 and under)
- Virtual Run/Walk
The courses are fully paved for accessibility. Participants in the 5K and 1-Mile events have a time limit of 1.5 hours to complete their distance. In addition to the timed events, a Toddler Trott is available for young children with no registration required. For those who cannot attend in person, the virtual option allows participants to select their own course and schedule.
Participants who register by April 13 receive a guaranteed race t-shirt and an Aruna beach bag. The event includes various awards for top male and female finishers in the 5K and 1-Mile categories, with medals provided for the top three finishers and certificates for age-group winners. Specialized awards are also presented to the top individual fundraisers and the largest participating team.
Parking for the event is located at DeKalb High School and Katz Park. Strollers are permitted on the course, though participants with strollers are asked to start at the back of the field for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
