Event Overview

The DeKalb Aruna Run is a running and walking event supporting the Aruna Project. The event takes place at Christ Community Church, DeKalb Campus, at 2350 Pride Avenue in DeKalb, Illinois.

Distances & Registration

The event offers the following race categories:

  • 5K Run/Walk
  • 1-Mile Run/Walk
  • 1 Mile Kid's Run/Walk (for children 12 and under)
  • Virtual Run/Walk option

Registration fees for participants aged 13 and over for the 1-Mile and 5K start at $37. A virtual option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Registration for children 12 and under for the 1-Mile Kids' Run/Walk is $25. Registration includes a race bib, an Aruna sticker, and a race t-shirt if registered by April 13th.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Packet Pickup: Participants can pick up their race bib and items at advance times on April 30 and May 1, or on the morning of the event starting at 7:30 a.m.
  • Parking: Parking is available at DeKalb High School (501 W. Dresser Rd.) and Katz Park (393 W Dresser Rd.).

  • Time Limit: The race has a 1.5-hour time limit.

Awards

Awards are given for the 1-Mile and 5K races. Top male and female finishers in each race receive an Aruna Dopp Kit Bag and a gift card. Medals are awarded to the first, second, and third place male and female finishers. First place finishers in various age-group categories receive certificates. A "Turtle Award" is given to the last finisher within the time limit.

Cause & Fundraising

The event is a fundraiser for the Aruna Project, a non-profit dedicated to creating freedom for survivors of human trafficking. 100% of registration fees go to this cause.
