Defend Your Friend 5K - Columbus Humane
Columbus Humane presents the Defend Your Friend 5K and Dog Festival in its 20th year. The event is described as the organization's largest annual fundraiser and brings together hundreds of animal supporters on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Bank Run Metro Park in Lockbourne, Ohio.
Participation options include a timed 5K and a separate shorter walk. Distances offered:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1-mile Walk
Additional participation choices include a festival-only option and a virtual supporter option that secures an event T-shirt without on-site attendance. Registration fees are stated as $65 through September 5 and $75 beginning September 6. Registration includes an official event T-shirt, race bib and professional race timing. The first 400 registered participants receive a swag bag. Children age 5 and under participate for free. Race packet pick-up details will be announced.
The post-race Dog Festival features food trucks including Playa Bowls and Tortilla, a local artisan market, community partner booths, pet-friendly activities, and a raffle with pet-friendly prize packages. Fundraising pages may be created to raise additional support; the registration fee counts toward individual fundraising totals.
