Defend Your Friend 5K : Columbus Humane
Defend Your Friend 5K is Columbus Humane’s annual fundraiser celebrating its 20th year. The event takes place on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Bank Run Metro Park in Lockbourne, Ohio. It brings together hundreds of participants to raise funds for shelter, medical care and other lifesaving services for animals in need.
Participants can choose from several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Walk
- Virtual Supporter option
Registration fees are stated for two periods: $65 through September 5 and $75 beginning September 6. Registration includes an official event T-shirt, a race bib and professional race timing. The first 400 registered participants receive a swag bag. Children five and under participate for free. The registration fee also applies toward individual fundraising totals.
The event includes a Dog Festival after the course with food trucks, a local artisan market, pet friendly activities, community partner booths and a raffle with pet friendly prize packages. Packet pickup is scheduled on dates before the event at Columbus Brewing Company Beer Hall and at the Columbus Humane shelter.
