Death by Staircase Trail Running Festival
Death by Staircase is a trail running event held in early June 2026 in Moreau, New York. The event base is the Overlook Trailhead parking lot by the Moreau beach at 605 Old Saratoga Road.
The course is a 3.8 mile loop that includes the so-called staircase of death, a rugged section that climbs over 800 feet in less than a mile, then descends before returning via a runnable couple of miles to the start.
The event is held over a 12-hour period on a single day. Runners may compete solo or as part of a relay team and aim to complete as many laps as they can within the event duration. Relay teams have no designated order or lap requirements; teammates may split laps unevenly. A 6-hour category and a Fun Run option are offered. The Fun Run allows one to three laps with no fixed timing constraints and permits participants to space laps during the event.
