Death by Staircase Trail Running Festival
The event takes place at the Overlook Trailhead parking lot near Moreau beach in New York. It happens over a 12-hour period.
Participants traverse a 3.8-mile loop. The course features a rugged section known as the "staircase of death," which climbs over 800 feet in less than a mile before descending. The final section consists of a few fast, runnable miles back to the start.
There are multiple participation options. Runners can join a relay team or run solo, completing as many laps as they can within the event timeframe. There is also a Fun Run option where participants can run between 1 and 3 laps at their own pace, with no time constraints between laps.
For the main events, runners can choose their own start time, with the stipulation that no new laps can be started after a specific cutoff time in the evening. Relay teams have no designated running order or lap requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
