Death by Staircase Trail Running Festival
Death by Staircase Trail Running Festival is held in Moreau, NY, with the start area at the Overlook Trailhead parking lot by the Moreau beach, near 605 Old Saratoga Road. The course is a loop of 3.8 mile that includes a named feature called the staircase of death.
The route climbs over 800 feet in less than a mile, then descends the opposite side before returning on a runnable section of a few miles back to the start. The terrain is described as rugged around the staircase and varied elsewhere on the loop.
The event is organized as a multihour festival. Participants may run solo or join a relay team. Relay teams have no designated order or lap requirements so team members may distribute laps unevenly. Runners may complete as many laps as they can within the event period.
There are multiple participation options, including a six hour category and a Fun Run. The Fun Run permits one to three laps with no strict time constraints and allows flexible timing within the event period. Runners in some categories can choose when to begin their laps during the event window. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
