Death by Staircase Trail Running Festival
The Death by Staircase Trail Running Festival is a running event on June 7, 2026. The event lasts 12 hours, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. It takes place at the Overlook Trailhead parking lot by the Moreau beach in Moreau, New York.
The main event involves runners traversing a 3.8-mile loop. The loop includes a rugged section known as the "staircase of death," which climbs over 800 feet in less than a mile before descending the other side. The final section consists of runnable trail for a couple of miles back to the start.
Participants have several options for how to run:
- Run solo and complete as many laps as possible within the 12-hour time frame.
- Join a relay team. Teams have no designated running order or lap requirements.
- Join the Fun Run, where runners can complete between 1 and 3 laps at their own pace, with no time constraints.
Runners in the 6-hour event and the Fun Run can choose their own start time. Participants are allowed to start a lap at any point, except that no new lap may begin after 7:30 PM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
