Death by 5k Waterloo : event overview
Death by 5k Waterloo is a 24 hour running challenge held at George Wyth State Park in Waterloo, Iowa. The event requires participants to complete ten 5 km out and back segments on the paved Cedar Valley Lakes Trail, with each segment starting 2.5 hours after the previous one. Race headquarters is located at the Canfield Shelter.
Meals and on-course support are provided. Five meals that include hot food are served during the event, and additional snack food and drinks are available throughout. Participants may rest between segments in a camping tent, hammock, under a pop up tent, or inside their vehicles.
Event entries were initially limited to 150 participants; a waitlist is used after that limit and additional participants may be added if slots open. Registrants receive an event shirt and other event swag. Those who complete all ten segments receive a handmade finisher's coffin.
The event is presented as the fourth edition in Waterloo. The event price listed for the 24 hour challenge is $160. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
