Death at DuPuis (A Backyard Event)

The event is a last person standing running race held in Canal Point, FL, organized by Mule Racing as a not-for-profit event that collects donations for the Loxahatchee chapter of the Florida Trail Association. The organizer intends to use race proceeds for trail maintenance and related expenses and lists a minimum donation goal for the local FTA chapter.

Participants run a single 4.166667 mile loop that restarts at the top of each hour; the sequence continues hourly until only one runner completes the loop on time or all participants stop. Runners receive audible warnings at three, two and one minute before each hourly cutoff. Basic amenities such as coolers, chairs and canopies will be set up at the start/finish area on a first-come basis.

The event offers a Bronze Ticket pathway that grants entry into a related event in Virginia, and the winner receives a $1,000 stipend. The posted refund policy states there are no refunds for dropped entries and that those fees are placed into the donation pot for the Lox-FTA. The organizer notes possible fee assistance for participants affected by COVID or financial hardship.

The race takes place within the DuPuis Management Area, a 21,875-acre multi-use natural area with ponds, pine flatwoods, boardwalks, campsites and miles of hiking and equestrian trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
