Event
The Deacon Dash for Down Syndrome is the 9th annual race day held on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The event raises funds and awareness for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem. It includes the following events:
- Fun Run
- 5K (listed as a 5K plus an extra 0.11 mile for a 3.21-mile total distance)
The race format emphasizes awareness of Down syndrome, noting that individuals with Down syndrome have three copies of the 21st chromosome (Trisomy 21).
Location and registration
The event takes place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, Midway Area, 421 27th Street NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Entrants are asked to enter the fairgrounds through Gate 5 off Deacon Boulevard and park in the Midway lot. A map of the race course and a sponsorship packet PDF are available.
Registration fees are listed at $21. Registration opens for the Fun Run on October 20, 2025 and for the 5K on October 27, 2025. Packet and t-shirt pickup is available the day before (TBD) or on race day at the race site at Gate 7 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Coupon codes include "DSParticipant26" for registering an individual with Down syndrome to receive a t-shirt at no cost, and "PayByCheck" for paying by check.
