3-2-1 Deacon Dash for Down Syndrome

The Deacon Dash for Down Syndrome is a recurring annual fundraising event held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The event is organized to support and raise awareness for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston-Salem. The race takes place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, specifically within the Midway Area. Participants can access the site through Gate 5 off of Deacon Boulevard, with parking available in the Midway lot.

The event features two primary distances:

  • Fun Run
  • 5K Run (total distance of 3.21 miles)

The 5K Run features a specific distance of 3.21 miles, which includes an additional .11 mile to represent the three copies of the 21st chromosome associated with Down syndrome. Individuals with Down syndrome are eligible for a registration fee waiver that includes a t-shirt.

Participants receive a race bib and a t-shirt as part of their registration packet. These items are available for collection during a pre-race day pickup or on the morning of the event at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds near Gate 7.
