Daufuskie Island Marathon

The Daufuskie Island Marathon takes place on Daufuskie Island, located just off the coast of Southern South Carolina near Hilton Head. The event features a USATF certified course that utilizes both paved and unpaved roads throughout the island. Because there are no bridges connecting the mainland to Daufuskie Island, participants access the event by ferry from locations such as Haig Point Court or Buckingham Landing in Hilton Head.

Available distances include:

  • 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
  • 26.2 miles (Marathon)

The race starts within Haig Point, a private island community. Registered runners are provided with pre-race refreshments, including coffee and cinnamon rolls, served under a heated event canopy. The course offers views of the island's landscape and cultural history.

Post-race amenities include a catered picnic lunch and various beverages for participants. A village after-party features entertainment and the opportunity to have finisher medals engraved with completion times. Awards created by a local artist are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each distance and age group. The event supports the Daufuskie Island Conservancy.
