Daufuskie Island Marathon and Half
This event is sold out. It is held on Daufuskie Island, a roughly 30 minute ferry ride from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Haig Point, a private residential community on the island, hosts the race. The event is produced and owned by Run 4 a Reason LLC and Rough Runners R4R INC.
Distances offered
- Marathon: two laps of the 13.1 mile course
- 1/2 Marathon: single lap of the 13.1 mile course
Runners follow a course that passes through Haig Point, Freeport, and Church Road, then returns into Haig Point along the beach. On race morning participants are greeted with coffee, cinnamon rolls, and entertainment. After the finish a catered picnic lunch and an assortment of beverages are provided, including beer for those of legal drinking age. Each participant receives higher tier event swag and a finishing medal. A local artist offers medal engraving during the after party.
A ferry pass to Daufuskie Island is not included in registration and must be purchased separately. The official post race gathering takes place at The Bank, Hilton Head's Beer Garden, where a sponsor provides the first round of beer and the program includes speakers, music, and giveaways.
