Daufuskie Island Marathon & Half

The event is a weekend of road races held on Daufuskie Island in South Carolina and presented by Haig Point and Run 4 A Reason: Rough Runners. The course is USATF certified for both the half and full marathon distances and may be used as a qualifier for other marathons. The route passes island landmarks such as Haig Point Lighthouse, Freeport, the Daufuskie Marsh Tacky Society, Tabby Circle, and sections along the Atlantic Ocean.

Distances offered include:

  • 26.2 miles Marathon
  • 13.1 miles Half Marathon
  • Kids Run (distance not specified)

Food and refreshments are provided at no cost to registered runners; spectators may purchase food and alcoholic beverages for a small fee. Music is scheduled for part of the day. All finishers receive medals. Awards are given to the top three overall female and male finishers, with special recognition for first place in five-year age groups. First-place male and female winners in both the marathon and half marathon will have a brick inscribed with their finish time placed in the Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation’s Museum Garden Walkway.

The event supports a local beneficiary for 2027, the Daufuskie Island Independent School, which focuses on curriculum development and inquiry-based teaching for the island community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
