Course and logistics
The course uses paved and unpaved roads and passes through Haig Point, Freeport, Church Road, and sections along the beach. The marathon is run as two laps of the 13.1 mile course. The event begins on Daufuskie Island after participants travel by ferry from the mainland; a ferry pass to the island is not included with race registration and must be arranged separately.
Runners receive event swag and a finishing medal. A local artist will offer engraving of finishing times at the after party. Post-race provisions include a catered picnic lunch and a selection of beverages, including beer for those of legal drinking age. Overall and age-group awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each distance and age group. Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the race at Palmetto Running Company in Hilton Head. Beneficiary organizations include the Daufuskie Island Conservancy.
