Dash for Downs
Dash for Downs is an annual community event held in historic downtown Yoakum, Texas. The event is hosted by the Yoakum Shape Shop and takes place on May 9, 2026. This activity serves as a fundraiser to support the Down Syndrome Foundation of South Texas, focusing on raising awareness and promoting inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome.
The event features two distinct participation options:
- Dash for Downs 5K Run/Walk
- Dash for Downs Kids Fun Run
The courses are chip timed, with services provided by the Victoria Area Road Runners Association. This annual gathering typically attracts more than 300 participants and volunteers from the surrounding community. Participants include a mix of runners and walkers who gather at 116 East Gonzales Street to participate in the activities.
Registration for these events opens in early March and continues through late April. The 5K is open to all supporters, while the Kids Fun Run provides a dedicated category for younger participants. Every individual involved contributes to the goal of making a lasting impact on the lives of families served by the foundation in South Texas.
