Dargavel Village 5km
The Dargavel Village 5 km is the inaugural road race organised by Dargavel and Bishopton Run Club and scheduled for 25 April 2027. The club is newly established within Dargavel and Bishopton and runs a nine week Couch to 5K programme that integrates new runners into coached club sessions.
The course is a signed and marshalled two loop route that begins and finishes within the grounds of Dargavel Village Primary School. It runs around the school perimeter and through the newly established Central Park. On the first lap the route exits the park onto a quiet residential street for approximately 200 metres before re-entering the park; the second lap follows the route back through the park without that exit and then takes in the full length of the park before returning to school grounds. The organisers describe the course as flat and suitable for time trial attempts as well as a guided event for newcomers.
Event facilities at the venue include male and female toilets and a warm up area on the school MUGA. The race will be licensed by Scottish Athletics pending the course measurement certificate.
Each finisher receives a medal designed by a pupil from Dargavel Primary School or Bishopton Primary School and the design winner will be invited to act as race starter. Prize categories include overall male and female 1st to 3rd and age group first places across standard veteran categories. Entries are limited to 300 places. There is a no refund, no deferral, and no transfer policy. Scottish Athletics members receive a £3 affiliated discount subject to post entry audit of membership numbers.
