About the race
DanceBlue 5K is a student-run run/walk at the University of Kentucky that raises funds and awareness for the DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology Clinic at Golisano’s Children’s Hospital. The event supports clinic improvements, research, and emotional and financial patient support for Kentucky families and is one part of year-round fundraising that culminates in a 24-hour dance marathon. The event takes place at Alumni Commons, off Rose Street, on October 18, 2026, and includes both an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K option. Registration is offered for UK students, community members, and UK staff and faculty, with fees that vary by category and registration period.
Registration closes October 11, 2026. No refunds are available. There will be no race-day packet pick-up. Student packets are distributed at the DanceBlue Office in Gatton Student Center Room 262A on October 13, October 14, October 15, and October 16; all student packets must be collected by October 16 at 2:00 PM.
Community packet pick-up is available at John’s Run/Walk Shop, 317 S Ashland Ave, on October 17 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. For students participating in the marathon, 5K registration is worth 20 spirit points. T-shirt sizes and availability are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
