Dance Away 5K & 1 Mile
The Dance Away 5K & 1 Mile, also known as Courir de Pont Breaux, takes place in historic downtown Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. The event is centered at Veterans Park and serves as a benefit for the Teche Center for the Arts. Participants can choose between several categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- 5K First Responders
- 1 Mile Teams
- 5K Teams
- Virtual Race (5K or 1 Mile)
The 5K route leads runners and walkers through the downtown historic district. Registered participants receive a race t-shirt and gain entry to the Zydeco Breakfast at Buck and Johnny's by showing their race bib. This post-race event includes a Bloody Mary for participants.
Individual awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K, as well as the top three in age groups ranging from 1-14 to 80+. The 1 Mile event also recognizes the top three overall winners. Traditional team registrations are available, with a special prize awarded to the team that recruits the highest number of members. A "Most Spirited" award is given for the best costume, and a dedicated category exists to honor first responders.
