Dance Away 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Dance Away 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run takes place in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. The event is centered at Veterans Park in the historic downtown district, with the course leading participants through the local streets. This athletic event serves as a benefit for the Teche Center for the Arts.
Participants can choose from several on-site distances and categories:
- 3.1 miles (5K Run/Walk)
- 1 mile (Fun Run)
The 5K event includes a specific category dedicated to first responders. For those who prefer to participate remotely, a virtual race option is available for both distances. Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt and post-race amenities at Buck and Johnny's, where participants can attend the Zydeco Breakfast. Access to the breakfast requires the presentation of a race bib.
Competitive awards are distributed across multiple age groups, ranging from ages 1 to 80 and above. In the 3.1 miles race, awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in each age bracket. The 1 mile fun run recognizes the top three overall winners. Additionally, a specialized award is presented to the participant wearing the most spirited costume.
The event also features a team registration format for both the 1 mile and 3.1 miles distances. Teams must consist of members who either create a new team name or join an existing group.
